Role Summary

Donor Center Technician — Louisville, KY. The Donor Center Technician conducts pre-donation medical screening, interacts with donors to address needs, assesses donor suitability, and engages in set-up while ensuring all donor screening information is complete and donor confidentiality is maintained. This role requires patience, the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic plasma-center environment, and a flexible schedule to support operations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre-donation medical screening.
  • Interacts with donors and responds to their needs.
  • Assesses donor suitability and engages in set-up.
  • Provides feedback to ineligible donor candidates.
  • Ensures all donor screening information is complete.
  • Maintains donor confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Superior customer service standards.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Interest in making a difference in the world.
  • Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable.

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment.
  • Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while working in a plasma freezer.
  • Personal protective equipment is required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, cold gear).
  • Work is performed sitting or standing for the entire shift, with bending and twisting of the neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day.
  • Frequent hand movement requiring fine motor control; ability to manipulate small objects.
  • Frequent foot movement; may occasionally squat, crouch, or sit on heels.
  • Light lifting of 15 lb with a maximum lift of 50 lb.
  • Hearing acuity, color perception, near and far vision as defined by job requirements.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to work with oral or written guidance.
  • Performs a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions; ability to adapt to different situations.
  • Relates sensitive information to diverse groups.
