Role Summary

The Donor Center Technician conducts pre-donation medical screening, engages with donors to address needs, assesses donor suitability and assists with setup, and ensures donor screening information is complete and confidential. The ideal candidate is patient, capable of handling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment and demonstrates superior customer service. This role is based in Sioux Falls, SD and may require a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre-donation medical screening.
  • Interaction and responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Assesses donor suitability and engages in set-up.
  • Provides appropriate feedback to ineligible donor candidates.
  • Ensures all donor screening information is complete.
  • Ensures donor confidentiality.

Education

  • High School diploma or GED

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms; exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment; exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F in plasma freezers.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold gear is required.
  • Work is performed sitting or standing for the entire shift, with bending and twisting of the neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day; frequent hand and finger movements; ability to lift up to 50 lbs (light lifting 15 lbs); may reach below shoulder height.
  • Hearing and color vision requirements; near and far vision within acceptable ranges; ability to comprehend and follow instructions and perform tasks under varying demands.
