Role Summary

District Sales Manager – Gulf Coast is a field-based role responsible for serving as the liaison to medical professionals, providing clinical knowledge of Amgen products, and leading district teams to achieve sales targets within assigned territories.

Responsibilities

  • Track the progress of marketing messages and programs
  • Provide feedback to district teams on marketing, allocation, monitoring, and leveraging internal and external resources
  • Manage district teams to maximize performance and achieve/exceed sales and budget targets
  • Screen, interview, and hire candidates
  • Ensure compliance with training
  • Coach and counsel individuals for development
  • Conduct annual and ongoing performance reviews and competency assessments
  • Coordinate with district and cross-functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Finance, other Business Units)
  • Share best practices with direct reports and peers
  • Coordinate and/or participate in cluster teams
  • Conduct district sales meetings to guide districts
  • Develop local Opinion Leader relationships to achieve aligned objectives

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Sales/Marketing experience OR
    • Master’s degree and 6 years of Sales/Marketing experience OR
    • Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of Sales/Marketing experience OR
    • Associate’s degree and 10 years of Sales/Marketing experience OR
    • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Sales/Marketing experience
  • 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing resource allocation
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Three+ years of specialty sales experience (Nephrology, Rheumatology, and/or Dermatology)
    • Experience in biologics
    • Buy and bill model experience
    • Ability to recognize and promote success behaviors and coach effectively
    • Ability to leverage market and customer knowledge to target messages and resources within the territory
    • Knowledge of local payor coverage
    • Ability to understand and articulate clinical concepts, data, and conclusions
    • Ability to address customer questions and objections with clinical information
    • Ability to recruit candidates that meet job criteria
    • Ability to interview and hire sales representatives who are capable and committed
    • Strong sense of responsibility and self-discipline
    • Ability to set short- and long-term objectives and collaborate effectively with sales staff and peers
