Role Summary
District Sales Manager, Nephrology — Bay Area, CA (Rare Disease). Lead area geography and a team of Nephrology Specialty Account Managers (NSAMs) to ensure market penetration and achievement of sales goals within the Nephrology space.
Responsibilities
- Leads area geography and team of nephrology specialty account managers (NSAMs) to ensure market penetration, analyze market dynamics, and set goals to achieve sales plans in Nephrology.
- Provides a clear, compelling sales purpose for the Area team members.
- Manages resources and tools (territory management tools, etc.).
- Builds business strategy and strategic impact aligned with corporate goals.
- Manages operational expenses and program funding.
- Ensures Area members operate within regulatory guidelines in all aspects of promotion, program implementation, and product compliance.
- Ensures proper training to maximize business potential and delivers clear product messaging.
- Achieves organizational sales volume and reach/frequency objectives.
- Establishes a productive work environment and partners across the Gout business unit when applicable.
- Collaborates across divisions within the GBU to achieve objectives.
- Recognizes and rewards outstanding sales performance; develops a professional organization.
- Develops internal and external customer relationships to drive Amgen's objectives in Nephrology.
- Delivers influential messages to gain support for initiatives; develops growth plans.
- Continually educates self and team on nephrology market issues and product knowledge; applies new technologies to improve efficiency.
- Conducts weekly ride-alongs for coaching with NSAMs; represents the organization at trade shows; contributes to regional/national sales meetings.
- Maintains safe working environment and professional demeanor; adheres to Amgen policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree with 2 years of Sales/Marketing experience; OR
- Master's degree with 6 years of Sales/Marketing experience; OR
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of Sales/Marketing experience; OR
- Associate’s degree with 10 years of Sales/Marketing experience; OR
- High school diploma/GED with 12 years of Sales/Marketing experience
- And 2 years of managerial or leadership experience directly managing people or leading teams/projects.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Sales experience in biologics, infusion, and/or rare/specialty products.
- Rare disease experience; Rare Disease launch experience.
- Immunology and/or Rheumatology experience.
- Buy-and-bill experience.
- Experience with institutions and integrated delivery networks.
- Approximately 80% travel; some overnight/weekend commitments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
