Role Summary
The District Business Manager leads, coaches, and motivates a field team of approximately 6โ10 TASs to drive adoption of Bristol Myers Squibbโs Cardiovascular portfolio and generate demand among Health Care Providers. They coach TASs on selling skills, scientific engagement, and digital capabilities, and drive continuous improvement in core skills. The DBM plays a leadership role in business and account planning, championing the use of new digital capabilities, and aligning to accounts across the Cardiovascular portfolio. The role is field-based, with the DBM spending 100% of time in the field with TASs and collaborating across Commercial, Medical, and Access organizations to meet sales targets.
Responsibilities
- Focused in-role coaching and developing of TASs: Coach TASs on competencies and learning objectives (e.g., scientific agility, customer/commercial mindset, change agility & teamwork/enterprise mindset); conduct ride-alongs with TASs for key HCPs as relevant; own TASs learning journey and ensure continuous improvement in core skills and behavior.
- Champion adoption of new capabilities (e.g., CE^3 analytics, content personalization): Understand and model new capabilities and coach TASs on leveraging CE^3 insights to guide call planning and preparation; regularly convene field team to exchange experiences, collect feedback, coach on change leadership, and encourage adoption of capabilities and new ways of working.
- Execute strategic planning activities (e.g., promo program planning, budget planning, tumor prioritization at the HCP level): Engage with insights to prioritize accounts and develop strategies for key accounts; ensure continuous customer experience improvement; lead financial and program planning for the district.
- Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of BMS.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience or other related industry experience.
- Preferred: Prior experience as a District Business Manager in Pharmaceutical Sales, or equivalent experience in leading and managing high-performing teams.
- Preferred: Pharma experience including understanding of reimbursement processes, access, and distribution environment.
- Required/Preferred: Proven track record of inspiring and leading teams to meet or exceed expectations and goals.
- Required/Preferred: Proven successful track record of selecting, developing, and retaining talented individuals.
- Required: Experience that has required the use of analytical skills, selling skills, development of strong business acumen, and working knowledge of the pharmaceutical value chain.
- Additional: This position requires operation of a company-provided vehicle and requires meeting Qualified Driver criteria (21+, valid driverโs license, driving risk level deemed acceptable).
