Director, Trademark and Copyright Attorney

Location: Tarrytown, NY (4 days onsite)

Responsibilities:
- Manage the global trademark portfolio (prosecution, maintenance, renewals, and enforcement) for prescription product brands, corporate names, and pipeline candidates
- Supervise outside counsel preparing and prosecuting global trademark applications
- Conduct and oversee trademark clearance searches; advise on third-party trademarks and freedom-to-operate risk
- Support trademark clearance for secondary nomenclature (INNs, logo designs, foreign language transliterations, 4-letter biologic suffixes) for new products, line extensions, in-licensed/co-marketed drugs, devices, digital apps, and patient support programs
- Advise marketing/branding teams on trademark selection, usage guidelines, and brand protection across all channels
- Draft and negotiate trademark-related agreements (licensing, coexistence, consent, settlement)
- Manage domestic and international trademark filings/prosecution through outside counsel networks; oversee budgets and vendor relationships
- Manage enforcement actions (UDRP; monitoring for infringement/counterfeiting/grey-market issues; opposition/cancellation before USPTO/TTAB and foreign offices)
- Coordinate counterfeiting mitigation with CBP and global agencies; address cybersquatting and online misuse
- Coordinate with in-house litigation on trademark infringement/unfair competition disputes

Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing
- 5+ years of trademark law experience (law firm and/or in-house preferred)
- Substantive experience in trademark prosecution, portfolio management, and enforcement
- Pharmaceutical/life sciences/healthcare experience strongly preferred; FDA proprietary name review familiarity a plus
- International trademark filing strategy experience; coordination with foreign counsel
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills (including licensing and coexistence)
