Purpose:
The Director, Tax Technology will define and advance the long-term vision for technology-enabled tax operations across AbbVie, driving transformation with AI, automation, and data analytics to modernize tax processes, enhance decision-making, and improve compliance and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the Tax Technology strategy and multi-year roadmap, incorporating AI enablement, automation, and advanced analytics.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of tax technology solutions for tax planning, compliance, and reporting (e.g., ASC 740, SOX, Transfer Pricing, indirect taxes), aligned to enterprise systems and data strategies.
- Advise senior tax and finance leadership on technology trends, AI, and digital innovation opportunities.
- Champion AI and intelligent automation to streamline workflows, improve data-driven insights, and enable predictive capabilities.
- Establish and govern data management and integration frameworks for seamless data flows between tax systems, ERP platforms, and finance processes.
- Partner with Finance, BTS, and Operations to align technology investments with enterprise priorities.
- Engage senior leadership, external auditors, and advisors to ensure alignment and successful execution.
- Monitor the tax technology landscape (including AI advancements) and deploy best-in-class solutions.
Qualifications:
- B.A./B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Computer Sciences.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in tax, finance transformation, or tax technology leadership.
- Deep expertise in tax processes (ASC 740, compliance, planning, global reporting).
- Experience leading large-scale transformation (technology implementations and process reengineering).
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, tax technology platforms, and data architecture.
- Demonstrated experience driving AI/automation/digital innovation.
