Role Summary

The Solid Tumor Lead in International Market Access & Pricing (IMAP) is responsible for developing and implementing integrated market access and pricing strategies for all solid tumor assets within the oncology pipeline. This leadership role leverages deep clinical and payer expertise, competitive insights, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize access, reimbursement, and commercial success for AbbVie’s pipeline oncology indications. The role reports to the Lead of Oncology Pipeline and supports shaping the future of oncology therapeutics.

Responsibilities

  • Integrated Access Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive access strategies for solid tumor assets, ensuring alignment with overall oncology pipeline objectives. Address pricing, reimbursement, and access (PRA) opportunities and challenges across international key markets, including the EU5, Canada, Japan, Australia, and China.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Market Access, HEOR, Pricing and HTA Strategy, Business Intelligence, Government Affairs, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Commercialization to ensure a solid understanding of payer landscapes and emerging trends.
  • Asset-Specific Deliverables: Oversee the creation and maintenance of access materials (e.g., Integrated Access Strategy, value proposition, core value dossier, negotiation pathways, objection handlers) for pipeline solid tumor indications.
  • Policy Shaping Activities: Lead launch readiness for new solid tumor indications, including environment shaping, stakeholder engagement, and development of market access tools to maximize patient access and commercial uptake.
  • Pricing and Reimbursement: Define and implement international pricing strategies, prepare preliminary value materials, and influence evidence generation to optimize pricing, reimbursement, and patient access enabling future success.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the Access function in oncology asset strategy meetings, international brand teams, and leadership presentations. Serve as the voice of access in cross-functional and external engagements.
  • Temab-A Asset Leadership: Drive the international market access and pricing strategy for AbbVie’s key asset Temab-A, ensuring an integrated approach across its current clinical development program (CDP) in colorectal cancer (CRC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
  • Indication-Specific Access Planning: Develop tailored access and reimbursement strategies for Temab-A in each targeted indication, considering unique clinical value propositions, competitive landscapes, and payer requirements.
  • Evidence Generation Guidance: Partner with clinical development and HEOR teams to identify and prioritize evidence needs, supporting strong health technology assessment (HTA) submissions and value demonstration for CRC, NSCLC, HNSCC, and PDAC.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Ensure close collaboration with commercial, medical, and regulatory teams to facilitate successful launch readiness, value communication, and access optimization for Temab-A across international markets.
  • Project Management: Lead project management activities related to purchasing, documentation, and compliance, ensuring alignment with company procedures and policies.
  • Team Management: Manage direct reports as assigned, fostering a high-performance, learning-oriented environment. Direct reports under this role will likely cover lung cancer indications, with specific responsibility for overseeing market access and pricing strategies related to ABBV-706. This includes ensuring that the unique clinical and payer requirements for ABBV-706 are addressed within the broader solid tumor strategy and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to optimize access in key markets.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in Pricing and Market Access, ideally at a global or regional level or Market access lead of EU5, JP, US, Canada, Australia, or China
  • Demonstrated experience in US and/or global payer and access environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MBA, PhD) in a scientific, clinical, or economic discipline.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in oncology and solid tumor disease areas.
  • Experience shaping the external environment to support market access goals.
  • Expertise in payer trends, pricing policies, and regulatory requirements in key global markets.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and drive market access success factors.
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to balance strategic direction with corporate goals.
  • Exceptional presentation and writing skills.
