Job Summary
The Director, MONARCH Software will lead their team across Monarch product initiatives, responsible for the design, implementation, and documentation to build a scalable robotic surgery business.

Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, coach, and mentor engineers and managers.
- Establish initiatives to achieve program goals and improve technical excellence in device software (GUI), robotics and controls, firmware, and cybersecurity.
- Provide technical leadership across device software development to ensure MONARCH software availability, reliability, and robustness.
- Influence R&D and cross-functional executives to shape business direction; challenge norms and drive change.
- Define, execute, and communicate the team’s mid- to long-term strategic vision and technical roadmap.
- Translate complex business/technical topics into clear decisions and actions for internal/partner teams (Quality, Regulatory, Commercial) and external stakeholders.
- Own SW R&D outcomes for pre- and post-market medical device needs (budget, priorities, resourcing, delivery timelines, approvals, communications).
- Ensure high-quality software and documentation for MONARCH systems.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience (required).
- 10+ years software development (required).
- 5+ years hands-on technical leadership and people management (required).
- Medical device experience from concept to delivery (required).
- Documentation experience for medical and non-medical device software (required).
- Proficiency with IEC 62304 for medical device software (required).
- Matrix partnering/influencing success; strong communication/interpersonal skills (required).
- Preferred: launch experience; ability to recruit/develop/manage/coach associates (including managers).
- Travel up to 10% (required).
