Director Revenue Accounting
The Director Revenue Accounting holds overall financial responsibility for revenue management including revenue recognition, gross-to-net sales accounting entries, and receivables management. This position is an essential part of the accounting team and plays a critical role in overseeing the financial reporting process and internal controls related to revenue, gross-to-net, and accounts receivable. Ultimately responsible for the order-to-cash business process. This role directly reports to the Corporate Controller.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee revenue recognition function including managing the monthly close process for all revenue-related activities: review sales and gross-to-net accounting entries ensuring proper accounting for discounts, promotions, adjustments, write-offs, refunds, and credits; review reconciliations of revenue transactions to G/L; ensure accurate and timely financial close and financial reporting.
- Address technical accounting matters associated with revenue recognition and material or non-standard contracts and settlements; prepare/review supporting memos with recommended accounting treatment.
- Support the business and finance team function by serving as the primary subject matter expert on all revenue related topics, including the analysis of revenue-related transactions and variances period-over-period.
- Act as the primary liaison between Accounting/Finance and external auditors on all revenue and receivable matters; collaborate extensively cross functionally with Trade/Commercial team.
- Oversee accounts receivables management functions, including credit monitoring, billing, and collections; manage related receivables accounting and financial reporting.
- Design and maintain an effective internal control environment over the order-to-cash cycle, including reporting and accounting estimates; be the control owner for key internal controls for revenue recognition and accounts receivable; ensure SOX requirements are met.
- Review and maintain existing revenue recognition and accounts receivable/credit policies to ensure they are up-to-date and effective.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelorβs degree in finance or accounting required. CPA preferred.
- 5-7+ years of experience in revenue accounting, credit, and or collections.
Additional Requirements
- Experience in the life science industry and gross to net sales accounting is required.
- Technical Skills: Solid experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Excel.
- Robust understanding of revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) and US GAAP.
- Solid experience with internal controls/SOX.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage staff effectively.
