Key Accountabilities / Core Job Responsibilities
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and operational delivery of Research Informatics, including Benchling, Dotmatics, internal software systems, and AI integration.
- Lead and grow a team for platform support, configuration, validation, and continuous improvement across Discovery, Development, and Technical Operations.
- Partner with scientists and lab operations to translate business and scientific requirements into scalable, well-engineered platform solutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on ELN capabilities and experiment data workflows; advise on platform selection and integration strategy.
- Communicate platform strategy, status, and risk to senior stakeholders.
- Engage hands-on in configuration and platform build work, alongside strategic oversight.
- Drive vendor relationships and manage platform migrations, escalations, and contract performance.
- Explore and integrate next-generation, AI-driven experiment capture concepts (e.g., passive documentation architectures).
- Own roadmap prioritization and backlog decisions.
- Lead direct reports through annual goal setting, growth planning, policy/training adherence, and ongoing feedback.
Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (CS, data science, engineering, or related); advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years building and delivering software solutions; 7+ years in pharma/biotech/life sciences supporting laboratory informatics/scientific platforms.
- 8+ years people management experience building and growing engineering teams.
- Hands-on expertise with scientific data platforms (e.g., Benchling, Dotmatics); ELN/registry migration experience preferred.
- Enterprise IT partnership experience (security, licensing, infrastructure) and familiarity applying AI/ML to biological or chemical data preferred.
Benefits/Compensation
- Salary range: $204,000–$265,000. Total rewards include 401k, healthcare coverage, ESPP, and other benefits.
