Role Responsibilities
- Serve as GWE R&D principal industrial-hygiene and EH&S technical authority; lead anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of chemical/physical/biological exposure hazards across sites.
- Member of R&D Leadership Team; member of Safety & Environmental Operations Leadership Team to reduce EH&S risk and elevate performance.
- Design/govern exposure-assessment programs (air/surface/personal monitoring, sampling strategies) and interpret against OELs/OEBs.
- Lead hazard/control banding for potent compounds, high-hazard biologics/ADCs, and novel molecules; define containment strategies, engineering controls, and PPE.
- Provide oversight and industrial-hygiene sign-off for ventilation, fume hoods, isolators, and containment systems.
- Support/implement IH risk-assessment methodologies; establish consistent toolset/documentation across R&D sites.
- Ensure consistent lab safety program application across lab types.
- Lead global EH&S Community of Practice (10β12 experts): priorities, deliverables, standards/tools/best practices.
- Serve as enterprise EH&S liaison; shape industrial-hygiene standards, governance, and reporting.
- Lead/sustain EH&S risk registers and escalation, incident investigation/lessons learned.
- Establish portfolio EH&S/IH performance visibility (exposure trends and leading/lagging indicators); explore AI for EH&S processes.
- Represent R&D for EH&S vendor programs and lead EH&S/IH due diligence for BD/M&A.
- Build industrial-hygiene/EH&S bench strength and succession planning.
Basic Qualifications
- BS in industrial/occupational hygiene, environmental/occupational health, chemistry, engineering, or related.
- 10+ years industrial hygiene and EH&S in pharma/biotech/medical devices or other regulated life-sciences/high-hazard environments.
- Deep expertise in IH exposure assessment/monitoring/sampling, OELs/OEBs, hazard/control banding, and engineering-control evaluation.
- Director-level EH&S leadership across multiple sites; ability to lead in matrixed settings without solid-line authority.
- Working knowledge of EH&S regulations/standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ACGIH; biosafety/containment; process safety) U.S. and international.
- Strong communication skills; experience with EH&S investigations and technical program development.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIH (strongly preferred); CSP/CBSP/RBP (plus).
- MS/MPH/PhD (or related field).
- R&D/lab IH experience with high-potency compounds/ADCs; BSL-3 and/or Select Agent programs.
- EH&S management systems/digital platforms; portfolio exposure/EH&S metrics/reporting.
- BD/M&A EH&S due diligence; active professional body membership with CPD.
Benefits/Compensation (as stated)
- Base salary: $176,600β$294,300; bonus target 20% of base; participation in long-term incentive; 401(k) match and additional retirement contribution; paid time off and medical/dental/vision.

- Hybrid; travel up to ~30% domestically/internationally; work outside standard hours as needed.
