Role Responsibilities:
- Serve as technical subject-matter leader for GWE R&D industrial hygiene: anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control chemical, physical, and biological exposure hazards across sites.
- Lead exposure-assessment programs (air/surface/personal monitoring; sampling strategies; interpret OELs/OEBs).
- Lead hazard/control banding for potent compounds, high-hazard biologics/ADCs, and novel molecules; define containment, engineering controls, and PPE.
- Provide oversight of ventilation, fume hoods, isolators, and containment systems; perform industrial-hygiene sign-off.
- Implement IH risk-assessment methodologies with enterprise Safety/Environmental Operations; standardize tools/documentation across R&D sites.
- Ensure consistent lab safety program application across lab types.
- Lead a global EH&S Community of Practice (10β12 experts): set priorities/deliverables; drive standards, tools, and best practices.
- Serve as enterprise EH&S liaison and governance representative (industrial-hygiene standards fit-for-purpose for R&D).
- Lead site EH&S risk registers; establish action plans; escalate as needed.
- Advise scientific/operational leaders; establish portfolio EH&S/IH visibility via exposure trends and leading/lagging indicators.
- Support AI in EHS processes, incident investigations/root-cause analyses, and vendor/BD-M&A IH due diligence.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in IH/health/chemistry/engineering or related; 10+ years progressive IH/EH&S in regulated life sciences.
- Deep IH expertise (assessment/monitoring/sampling, OELs/OEBs, control banding, engineering control evaluation) in lab/R&D.
- Director-level EH&S leadership across multiple sites; ability to lead without solid-line authority.
- Working knowledge of OSHA/EPA/ACGIH and biosafety/containment/process safety (US + international).
- Strong communication; experience in EH&S investigations/program development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CIH (strongly preferred) and/or CSP/CBSP-RBP; MS/MPH/PhD.
- R&D/lab IH experience with high-potency compounds/ADCs; BSL-3/Select Agent.
- EH&S digital platforms and portfolio metrics; BD/M&A due diligence; active CPD professional membership.
Work Location/Logistics:
- Hybrid; travel up to ~30%.
Compensation/Benefits (if applicable):
- Base salary: $176,600β$294,300; bonus target 20%.
- Eligible for long-term incentive; 401(k) match + additional retirement contribution; paid time off and health benefits.
