Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and manage day-to-day activities of the R&D Chemistry group, setting vision and short-/long-term goals; communicate priorities and goals to the group.
  • Perform medicinal chemistry SAR-driven optimization of novel small molecule and peptidomimetic modalities to optimize in vitro and in vivo properties of antibody-targeted therapeutics.
  • Champion and lead R&D chemistry efforts on multiple project teams, prioritizing and parallel processing to sustain the development pipeline.
  • Identify new strategies/technologies and improve existing platforms for synthesis and bioconjugation of small molecule and peptidomimetic modalities.
  • Set priorities and accelerate progression of the groupโ€™s technology and pipeline projects.
  • Participate in departmental, cross-functional, senior leadership, and external meetings to contribute expertise and represent the R&D Chemistry groupโ€™s goals and vision.
  • Interact broadly with other Regeneron groups, forging relationships and collaborations.
  • Mentor the R&D Chemistry group to provide opportunities, visibility, and development for all members.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry (or related) with extensive drug discovery experience in antibody-targeted small molecule and peptidomimetic modalities, including synthesis and manufacturing, and expertise in medicinal chemistry SAR.
  • Deep understanding of MOAs, target evaluation, ADME/PK, PD/efficacy, tox evaluation; minimum 10 years of industry experience.
  • Proven track record in small molecules, peptidomimetics, or antibody-targeted therapeutics with experience building and leading teams; ability to collaborate with internal and external partners (e.g., CROs).

Skills

  • Synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry with expertise in antibody linker-payload synthesis
  • Bioconjugation techniques, platforms, and strategies for small molecule and peptidomimetic modalities
  • Chemical biology strategies integrating chemical and biological solutions in drug discovery
  • Leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration

Education
