Role Summary

Director Project Controls Global Engineering – Lead and inspire a project controls team within a global engineering/Capital Projects function, reporting to the Senior Director of Project Services. Drive excellence in project controls across a regional portfolio, ensuring high-quality service delivery and effective resourcing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the project controls team to deliver defined work processes and high-quality results for a regional portfolio of capital projects.
  • Confirm regional portfolio resourcing needs (capabilities and timing) to support project demand, coordinating with estimation and planning as required.
  • Build capability and staff to support current work, future growth, and long-term business needs.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development of internal resources; support other functions/sites with recruitment as needed.
  • Ensure implementation of the technical direction and standards within the Project Services Operating Model.
  • Accountable for quality of project controls stage-gate review documentation for internal governance/funding decisions.
  • Own parts of the Project Services Operating Model as a Business Process Owner, accountable for process definition, assurance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other Regional Project Controls Leads and provide direct support to the Director of Project Services.
  • Assist with project setup and onboarding of new teams/personnel in AZ business processes.
  • Train and educate others in good practices related to project controls.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives to support the organization as assigned.
  • Participate in pharma industry or project control forums and conferences; lead knowledge-sharing efforts.
  • Interact with Project Managers and other technical leaders to develop effective approaches to project development and execution.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Essential: 7+ years of relevant experience in project controls including planning & scheduling, cost management, and estimating
  • Essential: Global project experience
  • Essential: Developed professional network in project controls
  • Essential: Experience with Microsoft Office suite and reference documentation
  • Essential: Flexibility to support business travel if required
  • Essential: Demonstrated record of delivering services for relevant project size and complexity
  • Essential: Excellent interpersonal and communications skills; able to work cross-functionally
  • Essential: Proven leadership abilities and ability to manage service providers for development of estimates
  • Essential: Proven team player; open to other views and concepts in decision-making
  • Essential: Strong initiative and leadership qualities
  • Essential: High energy, advocate for Project Controls process
  • Essential: Demonstrated ability to influence others

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • 5 years of bio-pharmaceutical experience and knowledge
  • Certification in a relevant area
  • Experience with major scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with cost and schedule risk analysis
