Role Summary
Director of Patient Navigation responsible for leading the national Afrezza Patient Navigator Team, overseeing onboarding, reimbursement navigation, and long-term adherence to eliminate patient access barriers.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the strategic vision for the Afrezza Patient Navigator program, aligning with company goals and evolving market dynamics.
- Program Oversight: Lead operational excellence, ensuring accountability to business, patient, and brand outcomes.
- Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing national team of Managers and Patient Navigators.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Compliance, and external vendor partners to deliver seamless patient and provider experiences.
- Access & Reimbursement Support: Drive the development of compliant tools and resources that support benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals, and specialty pharmacy coordination.
- Onboarding & Training: Oversee the design and implementation of patient onboarding and training protocols to ensure a smooth transition to Afrezza therapy.
- Quality & Compliance: Maintain rigorous operational standards, ensuring adherence to quality monitoring, compliance, and data integrity requirements.
- Adherence Optimization: Develop and enhance programs that foster patient engagement and long-term therapy adherence.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a trusted expert on payer landscapes, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance, as well as patient assistance programs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with endocrinology offices, diabetes educators, and healthcare teams to drive awareness and support.
- Business Performance: Monitor and report on program performance, delivering actionable insights and updates to executive leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, RN, PharmD, or related) preferred.
- Business acumen
- 10+ years of experience in patient support services, reimbursement, or market access within pharma/biotech.
- Demonstrated success leading national patient navigation or field support programs.
- Strong understanding of diabetes care and familiarity with inhaled insulin therapies a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of payer systems, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and presentation abilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
