General Summary:
The Director, Package Engineering leads packaging engineers responsible for late-stage development, commercialization, and supply of Vertex products.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Lead technical packaging engineering and build alignment across technical areas/functions.
- Support Regulatory on packaging-related CMC strategy and market applications.
- Represent MS&T on corporate/strategic teams (e.g., supplier partnerships) and participate in long-range planning.
- Resolve critical packaging issues with relevant stakeholders.
- Review/approve strategically important documents.
- Define strategy and champion continuous improvement of packaging operations.
- Lead through subordinate managers/higher-level professionals.
- Recruit, direct, motivate, and develop teams; maximize contribution and sustain a high-performing workforce.
- Define functional/department goals; contribute to operational strategy and develop annual business plans.
Knowledge And Skills:
- Packaging discipline expertise (primary materials/closures, secondary/tertiary components, compatibility, qualification, equipment installation/qualification).
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical packaging from research through registration and launch.
- Advanced regulatory and supply-chain understanding.
- Strong verbal/written/presentation skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, strong-matrix environment.
- Proven multi-project performance; ability to travel (~20%).
Education And Experience:
- Bachelorβs degree in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, Material Engineering, or related field.
- Typically 12 yearsβ experience, including 5 years of leadership/management experience.
Pay Range:
- $189,700 - $284,500. Eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards.
