Position Summary
Director of Medical Policy manages Market Access strategies for current and pipeline products and leads payer/health policy initiatives for Caris Life Sciences, shaping medical policy strategy to influence reimbursement (coverage and evidence generation).
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor/analyze payer and Lab Benefit Manager (LBM) policies, coverage decisions, and reimbursement trends.
- Interpret payer/policy changes and communicate implications to internal stakeholders.
- Present clinical data to payer policy makers (e.g., Medical Directors/Medical Policy groups) via meetings and conferences.
- Develop evidence generation plans, value propositions, and technical assessment submission packages.
- Engage payer stakeholders to advocate for coverage; maintain relationships with trade associations and professional societies.
- Support national/state legislative initiatives for coverage of evidence-based biomarkers.
- Participate in strategic/tactical business planning from a payer perspective.
- Partner with Market Access, Marketing, HEOR, and related teams to execute business plans.
- Track professional society guidelines and technology assessments impacting payer policy.
- Lead internal training; track/report KPIs; collaborate with Clinical Development and HEOR to align evidence.
- Support pricing strategy inputs; represent the company at external policy forums and payer advisory boards.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced clinical/scientific degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MS Genetic Counseling, NP, PA).
- 7+ years in medical policy/market access (biotech, diagnostics, or healthcare).
- Payer engagement experience (Medical Directors/policy decision-makers) and strong U.S. reimbursement knowledge (CMS + commercial).
- Evidence-based value proposition development; strong analytical, communication, presentation skills.
- Cross-functional matrix experience; oncology biomarkers/companion diagnostics expertise.
- Digital health and real-world evidence (RWE) understanding; ability to influence without authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years market access/medical affairs/payer engagement; 5+ years reimbursement experience (prefer biotech/device/molecular diagnostics).
- LBM and HTA experience; digital health/RWE familiarity.
- Leadership/advisory experience; industry working groups/society/policy advocacy involvement.
- Legislative/regulatory experience related to diagnostics/oncology; expertise in U.S. payer landscape; leadership in Comprehensive Genomic Profiling.
