Director, Legal (Hybrid/Remote)

Role: Senior legal executive overseeing commercial contracts, operational legal matters, and complex transactions to support Illumina's genomic technology initiatives. Responsibilities: advise on strategic go-to-market initiatives, negotiate high-value customer agreements, develop contracting processes, and support M&A diligence and integration. Requirements: JD from an accredited U.S. law school, CA bar membership or eligibility, minimum 15 years legal experience including 10+ years of management, 5+ years in top-tier law firms and in-house, strong legal drafting, strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and adaptability in fast-paced environments. Preferred: experience with public sector procurement, ethical use of AI tools, technical background in life sciences or related fields, knowledge of genetics. High-Value: extensive experience in commercial legal advising within biotech or genomics sectors, supporting strategic transactions and customer negotiations. Work Setup: hybrid role based in San Diego, CA, with periodic travel (~10%) to headquarters for leadership, transaction work, and collaboration.
