Role Summary
Director, Immunobiology. We are seeking an accomplished and motivated scientific leader to join our Immunobiology Research Group as a Director. This role is ideal for a senior leader with a strong track record in immunology drug discovery, including advancing drug candidates into the clinic. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment, and is passionate about mentoring teams and shaping strategic direction. Based in Cambridge, MA with regular onsite presence; candidates must be within commutable distance or able to relocate.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and scientific direction for immunology research programs, from target identification through candidate nomination.
- Lead and mentor a team of scientists, fostering professional growth and scientific rigor.
- Manage cross-functional project teams, ensuring alignment across research, translational, and development functions.
- Drive portfolio prioritization and resource allocation in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage external collaborations, including academic and industry partnerships.
- Represent the immunology group in internal governance forums and external scientific meetings.
- Maintain awareness of emerging trends and technologies in immunology and integrate them into the groupβs strategy.
- Ensure high-quality scientific output and effective communication across teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Required: PhD or MS (PhD preferred) in Immunology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Required: 12+ years of industry experience in immunology drug discovery, including leadership roles.
- Required: Proven success in leading programs that have advanced candidate molecules into clinical development.
- Required: Deep understanding of immune mechanisms in inflammation and autoimmunity.
- Required: Experience managing cross-functional teams and mentoring scientists at various career stages.
- Required: Demonstrated ability to build and manage external collaborations.
- Required: Strong strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills.
- Preferred: Experience in both small molecule and biologics drug discovery.
- Preferred: Familiarity with multiomics approaches and translational research.
- Preferred: Prior experience in portfolio management and strategic planning.
