Role: Lead global trade compliance strategy and operations for Vertex's supply chain, encompassing manufacturing, distribution, clinical, and research shipments across multiple geographies. Responsibilities: develop and execute scalable trade compliance processes and systems; interpret and operationalize global trade regulations (US, EU, UK); oversee customs declarations, valuation, tariffs, licensing, and export controls; monitor regulatory changes; optimize duty mitigation programs; partner with cross-functional teams including Legal, Tax, Regulatory, and Data Technology; manage trade compliance metrics, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives; support governance of external service providers and develop compliance training. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, or Supply Chain, with 15+ years' experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences trade compliance, including leadership of global teams; deep knowledge of US, EU, UK trade regulations, customs, VAT, and risk management; strategic problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills; experience with digital trade management tools, automation, AI, and trade law in regulated environments. Preferred: Advanced degree and experience in consulting firms or strategic service providers. High-Value: Biopharma industry focus; expertise in complex global supply chains, regulatory compliance, customs valuation, duty optimization, and cross-functional collaboration.
