Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the global trade compliance strategy aligned to corporate, supply chain, and financial objectives.
- Establish global policies, procedures, and governance frameworks for import/export compliance; maintain oversight of export controls, sanctions, and customs regulations.
- Oversee compliant import/export execution (classification, valuation, country of origin, licensing) and ensure HTS classification and customs declarations controls.
- Lead global trade compliance risk assessments, internal control frameworks, and internal/regulatory audits; partner with Legal on investigation/escalation/resolution.
- Serve as primary interface with customs authorities and regulatory agencies; manage export licenses/permits/certifications and monitor regulatory changes.
- Identify and implement trade optimization opportunities (FTAs, duty drawback, inward processing, etc.); align trade strategy with transfer pricing and tax-efficient supply chain structures; partner with Finance on duty forecasting, cost visibility, accruals, and planning.
- Drive global standardization of trade compliance processes/documentation and implement/optimize trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS or equivalent); enhance automation, data integrity, and reporting.
- Partner across Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Commercial, Legal, Tax, and Finance; advise senior leadership on trade risks/costs/opportunities.
- Develop and deploy enterprise-wide trade compliance training; lead and develop a global team.
Requirements
- BA and 12+ years of relevant experience (global trade compliance in pharmaceutical/biotech/regulated industries) OR MA/MS and 10+ years OR PhD and 8+ years.
- Deep expertise in import/export regulations, customs compliance, and trade risk management.
- Strong understanding of supply chain, financial flows, and regulatory implications.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with Legal, Tax, and Finance; experience building/scaling global compliance programs.
Preferred
- Advanced degree (Masters).
Compensation/Benefits
- Salary range: $210,375.00β$272,250.00; may be eligible for discretionary bonus and stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
