Director, Global Rheum-Derm Scientific Communications Lead (Horsham, PA)
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a key scientific lead for publications for assigned Dermatology & Rheumatology therapeutic area (TA) assets; assist with development and lead delivery of the publication plan.
- Oversee content quality for publications and presentations; review all project content for scientific accuracy, message accuracy, and consistency. Provide direction/oversight/feedback to writers, contracts, and vendors.
- Direct line management of 3–5 medical writers and medical communication personnel.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal partners (Biostats, Global Medical Affairs, R&D, Med Affairs TA leads, Scientific Communications team) and external authors (key opinion leaders, principal investigators).
- Serve on the Scientific Communications Leadership Team to share insights, feedback, and solution-oriented input to shape the department.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide editorial, scientific, and strategic expertise for the assigned TA.
- Impact the business by disseminating clinical study data.
- Review project content for message accuracy and consistency.
- Build working relationships with partners/clients/KOLs (including meetings and teleconferences).
- Maintain knowledge of clinical study data by participating in protocol/top-line results/study report/submission planning and review meetings.
- Attend and lead strategic publications team meetings within the TA.
Requirements:
- Education: BA/BS required; MA/MS/MBA or Doctorate preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years pharmaceutical industry experience; 5–7 years in scientific communications.
- People leadership and vendor management experience required.
Skills (Required/Experience-Based):
- Strong scientific/medical and manuscript writing skills; ability to interpret and organize scientific data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with global teams and external authors to complete publications.
