Role Summary
Director, Global Launch Excellence, Nephrology — responsible for guiding cross-functional teams through key planning milestones to deliver impactful launch plans, providing program management and developing launch frameworks to set the stage for future Biogen nephrology launches. Leads cross-functional matrix teams to develop and execute robust launch plans, engages with executive stakeholders, and enhances organizational capabilities for launch excellence.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate as the primary Launch Excellence partner for Global cross-functional Nephrology launch teams across Clinical Development, Regulatory, PO&T, Global Product Strategy and Commercialization and Global Medical Affairs, guiding teams through key planning milestones to deliver impactful launch plans
- Drive strategic and operational rigor in building and managing integrated launch plans including timelines, budgets, interdependencies and risks, supporting product and company objectives across multiple indications
- Lead Launch Team Meetings and work with indication sub-teams to track progress and drive launch accountability
- Act as an integrator for functions, indication sub-teams, regions and key markets, driving clarity and removing barriers to enable operational execution of launch priorities
- Collaborate with regional/key market launch leads to ensure world-class launches by defining plans that ensure readiness and appropriate resource allocation with clear processes, frameworks and touchpoints for knowledge transfer and handoffs
- Identify and mitigate risks, scenario planning, decision criteria, and milestone stage gates to keep teams on track
- Build and maintain tools to plan and track launch progress, enhancing collaboration and agility
- Ensure sound annual financial planning for pre-launch efforts, driving data-driven decisions and proactively identifying risks and opportunities
- Establish and track Launch KPIs
- Identify, communicate, and escalate interdependencies, issues, and key decisions to senior leadership; manage program status reporting
- Coordinate the development of presentations for strategic planning and decision-making; prepare launch status updates for governance committees
- Foster a positive team culture through expert facilitation, health checks, collaborative decision-making, clear ways of working and engagement
- Facilitate After Action Reviews to identify and share best practices from launches
- Expand expertise and intelligence in Nephrology launches to elevate strategic and tactical recommendations for launch excellence
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree; Advanced Degree preferred
- Required: 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with at least 3 years in strategic or tactical roles supporting launch readiness
- Required: Proficient with MS Office Suite, Teams, and project management software
- Required: Commercial global or affiliate experience
- Required: Nephrology or rare disease/immunology experience
- Required: Anticipated travel: up to 15% international
- Preferred: Experience in launch excellence or other enterprise-wide roles
- Preferred: Strategic and marketing/commercial consulting experience in healthcare
