Role Summary
Director, Global Launch Excellence and Commercialization for Lupus at Biogen, leading cross-functional and cross-regional teams to develop and execute robust launch plans across multiple lupus indications. Responsible for exceptional program management, launch frameworks, and guiding future launches, including commercialization work in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate as the primary Launch Excellence partner for Global and Regional Lupus launch teams across Marketing, Market Insights, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, Supply Chain, Regulatory and Communications to deliver impactful launch plans.
- Drive strategic and operational rigor in building and managing integrated launch plans including timelines, budgets, interdependencies and risks, supporting product and company objectives across multiple indications.
- Lead Launch Team Meetings and work with indication sub-teams to track progress and drive launch accountability.
- Act as an integrator for functions, indication sub-teams, regions and markets, removing barriers to enable operational execution of launch priorities.
- Collaborate with regional/key market launch leads to ensure world-class launches by defining launch plans with organizational readiness, appropriate resource allocation, and clear knowledge transfer and handoffs.
- Identify and mitigate risks, conduct scenario planning, establish decision criteria, and define milestone stage gates to keep teams on track.
- Build and maintain tools to plan and track launch progress, enhancing team collaboration and agility.
- Ensure sound annual financial planning for pre-launch efforts, drive data-driven decisions, and identify risks and opportunities.
- Establish and track Launch KPIs; identify, communicate, and escalate program-wide interdependencies, issues, and key decisions to senior leadership and governance. Manage status reporting.
- Coordinate the development of presentations for strategic planning and decision-making, and prepare launch status updates for governance committees.
- Foster a positive team culture through expert meeting facilitation, team health checks, collaborative decision-making, clear processes, and engagement.
- Facilitate After Action Reviews to identify best practices and opportunities from launches.
- Expand expertise in Lupus launches to elevate strategic and tactical recommendations for launch excellence.
- Lead strategic and operational commercialization projects within the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus indication, including go-to-market strategy, market expansion, lifecycle management business cases, congress sponsorship, and competitive differentiation planning.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's Degree; Advanced Degree (MBA, PhD, or equivalent) preferred
- Required: 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with at least 3 years in strategic or tactical roles supporting launch readiness
- Required: Proficient with MS Office Suite, Teams, and project management software
- Required: Commercial global or affiliate experience
- Required: Anticipated travel: up to 15% international
- Preferred: Experience in launch excellence or other enterprise-wide roles
- Preferred: Strategic and marketing/commercial consulting experience in healthcare
- Preferred: Lupus or immunology experience in Rheumatology or Dermatology
Education
- Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree (MBA, PhD, or equivalent) preferred
