Director, Global Commercial Finance Business Partner

The Director, Finance Business Partner is a senior Finance leader accountable for strategic finance business partnering to Global Commercial. The role embeds financial insight, challenge, and enterprise perspective into function-level strategy, prioritisation, and execution decisions.

Finance Business Partnering
- Act as lead Finance adviser to Function Heads and senior leadership teams
- Embed Finance into function-level strategic and operational decision-making through insight, challenge, and recommendation
- Provide financial leadership for a global [function] with responsibility for a budget of $X across multiple regions/business units
- Own financial planning, forecasting, and performance outcomes for the function
- Build strong senior-level relationships to influence priorities and outcomes
- Represent Finance perspectives within the function and promote alignment with enterprise objectives

Performance Management & Insight
- Lead senior-level performance discussions on function/portfolio performance, drivers, risks, and opportunities
- Provide forward-looking insight to enable corrective action
- Drive cost discipline, productivity, and value optimisation
- Escalate material risks and opportunities requiring enterprise alignment/intervention

Decision Support & Analysis
- Lead financial evaluation of significant function-level initiatives and investments
- Frame options, trade-offs, and implications for senior leadership decisions
- Ensure recommendations are supported by robust analysis and transparent assumptions

Financial Governance & Controls
- Enforce financial governance frameworks for disciplined decision-making
- Review and challenge business cases and investment proposals
- Ensure compliance with Finance policies, controls, and approval requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Qualified accountant or MBA
- Typically 12+ years’ progressive finance experience, including senior business partnering roles
- Strong life-sciences business understanding (e.g., R&D, Tech Ops, Commercial, regulated environments)
- Proven ability to influence and challenge senior leaders
- Proactivity and curiosity mindset
- Ability to lead in a complex, cross-matrixed organization
