Role: Director of Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) in oncology, leading strategy, oversight, and execution of external research collaborations, including investigator-sponsored trials and partner-funded studies. Responsibilities: manage end-to-end ESR processes within a specified disease area, develop strategic objectives, lead scientific committees, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and monitor study progress and outcomes. Collaborate closely with Medical Strategy, Clinical Operations, Preclinical, and external stakeholders to align research initiatives with company priorities, build external relationships, and oversee proposal review, funding, and study execution. Requirements: PhD, PharmD, or MD; 10+ years in Medical Affairs and ESR leadership within biotech or pharma; proven expertise in developing and executing medical research strategies; experience with ESR program management, cross-functional collaboration, and regulatory knowledge (FDA, EMA, ICH, GVP). Preferred: oncology, precision medicine, targeted therapies experience, and familiarity with digital ESR management tools. High-Value: leadership in oncology ESR programs, strategic research oversight, compliance with global regulatory standards, and external stakeholder engagement. Work setup: onsite in Redwood City, CA, with a salary range of $211,000 - $264,000, based on experience and market factors.
