Responsibilities:
- Define enterprise reference architectures and technical standards for data, AI, integration, semantic layers, data products, and governed AI adoption.
- Own Gate 0 architecture review (vendor AI assessments, architecture decision records, reusable pattern libraries, standards to reduce duplication).
- Prototype and pressure-test architecture decisions with engineering teams; turn builds into reusable enterprise patterns.
- Design enterprise data governance enforcement (lineage, catalog/glossary integration, classification, data quality controls, stewardship workflows, policy-driven access, master/reference data patterns).
- Establish scalable architecture patterns across clinical, regulatory, safety, quality, manufacturing, commercial, and G&A.
- Define integration/retrieval/authorization, identity propagation, audit patterns for AI-enabled systems, including agent/tool use and governed model access.
- Partner with AI, analytics, platform engineering, network, security, and business technology leaders to ensure coherent, secure, practical, regulated solutions.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 10+ years in architecture/engineering/tech leadership; experience in biotech/pharma/life sciences or similarly regulated environment.
- Experience architecting and shipping enterprise-scale production systems; hands-on fluency in code, platform patterns, and tradeoffs.
- Working knowledge of GxP validated systems and 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and GAMP 5 for data platforms, integration, and AI-enabled systems.
- Experience with regulated data domains (e.g., clinical, regulatory, safety/pharmacovigilance, quality, manufacturing/supply, commercial, HCP/HCO, patient-level).
- Knowledge of privacy, transparency, data governance, and AI governance (lineage, cataloging, classification, stewardship, data quality, model risk classification, third-party AI assessment).
- Experience defining reference architectures/standards/reusable patterns and architecture governance processes.
Preferred:
- Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Astronomer, Monte Carlo, AWS, Collibra, Microsoft 365, Copilot (or comparable).
- AI governance/responsible AI controls and authorization patterns; vendor AI assessment.
- People leadership experience.
