Role Summary

Director, Cost Accounting to lead and oversee all inventory and cost-related accounting functions. Responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting of inventory across the global supply chain. This cross-functional role collaborates with Supply Chain, Quality, FP&A, and auditors to ensure inventory is fairly stated and cost of goods sold is accurately classified.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the inventory accounting function for pipeline products, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold
  • Review and approve journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliations related to inventory and cost of goods sold for pipeline products
  • Review current product costing methodology and oversee standard cost updates for pipeline products, variance analysis, and inventory reserve analysis
  • Function as the finance business owner of the SAP Supply Chain Module; ensure accurate product costs, inventory valuation, overhead and variance analysis; identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Collaborate with supply chain and FP&A teams to understand production schedules, contracts, inventory movements, and other supply chain matters to assess the impact on inventory accounting and ensure fair statement and classification
  • Provide support for quarterly and annual financial reporting and disclosures related to inventory and cost of goods sold
  • Collaborate with third-party distribution provider and Head of Trade to manage and ensure accurate inventory counts
  • Oversee and perform annual physical inventory count if necessary
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the cost accounting team to ensure consistent application of cost accounting principles
  • Maintain and develop improvements for SOX controls related to costing and inventory
  • Support internal and external audit processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold
  • Demonstrate proficiency in financial analysis, reporting, and interpretation of data

Qualifications

  • Required: BS/BA in Accounting/Finance and 10+ years of relevant accounting experience, including 5+ years in pharma cost accounting
  • Required: Thorough knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to inventory valuation and cost of goods sold
  • Required: Excellent computer skills, including advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, data merges, filters, and IF statements) and MS Word
  • Preferred: Experience working with SAP
  • Required: High level of personal integrity consistent with company values

Education

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
