Responsibilities
Strategic Direction:
- Partner with Development Sciences and Discovery leaders to align strategies on pipeline programs.
- Develop and implement strategies/methods/operating models to drive Computational Sciences and AI-enabled drug discovery.
- Manage multiple projects and team leaders; make decisions impacting long-term strategy.
- Identify, create, and oversee external research collaborations (academia/tech).
- Make highly critical, data-informed decisions.
Scientific Leadership:
- Manage project intake and capacity planning for small-molecule portfolio; align scope, timelines, and decision points for med-chem optimization.
- Lead innovation in methodologies, platform integration, and emerging tech trends for stage-appropriate full-stack solutions (mid-late discovery to early clinical).
- Develop and roll out stage-appropriate computational models across synthetic modalities (including identification, development, pilot, implementation, democratization).
- With Information Research, ensure robust model/data management and tool democratization.
People Impact:
- Resolve inter/intra project conflicts, resource issues, and scientific setbacks.
- Build and motivate a high-performing team; support employee development.

Qualifications
- Degree in chemistry/computational chemistry/pharmaceutical sciences/chemical engineering/computer science or related; typically 18+ (BS), 16+ (MS), or 12+ years (PhD) with managerial experience leading scientific teams.
- Strong people, technical, and research project management with significant impact.
- High-impact scientific record (including publications).
- Cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Expertise in state-of-the-art computational methodologies and workflows; strong written/oral communication and executive presence.
- Strong leadership navigating multiple stakeholders.
