Role Summary

Director, Comparator Sourcing

The Director of Comparator Purchasing, Clinical Supply Chain oversees the Clinical Supply Chain vision and strategy, providing leadership over the comparator purchase strategy and timely delivery management. Represents the function on the Global Clinical Supply Chain Leadership Team and ensures alignment with global goals. Builds relationships with internal leadership to resolve critical issues and ensure prompt alignment of organizations.

Responsibilities

• Oversees collaboration with the Clinical Supply Chain Planning organization to understand comparator requirements for clinical studies.
• Partners with global procurement management to build a strategy for comparator sourcing in support of the portfolio.
• Establishes infrastructure for collection of comparator information, including market types and pack sizing.
• Ensures on-time responses between Clinical Supply Chain Planning and procurement for timely comparator delivery.
• Provides supporting documentation from vendors to Clinical Supply Chain Planning.
• Tracks target delivery to CMOs supporting release activities.
• Investigates exceptions to determine root causes, implements CAPAs, and drives closure.
• Develops sourcing strategies to maximize supply efficiency, minimize waste, identify risk, and develop mitigation plans.
• Builds a team to support the comparator purchase strategy and fosters strategic relationships with internal groups.
• Leads process/performance improvement initiatives and participates in global/regional programs.
• Participates in monthly Supply Review Meeting of CD&OP and reports comparator supply delivery performance as required.
• Ensures robust systems and processes for operational and logistical tasks in a cGMP compliant manner.
• Collaborates to author department policies and procedures.
• Leads staff in supportive roles for supply planning and business process development.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Lead comparator sourcing team for BeOne. Manage direct reports and provide mentoring as required.

Competencies

• Experience in a global, complex biopharma supply chain.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary departments and building teams.
• Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders (Clinical Operations, Quality, CMC, Regulatory, etc.).
• Advanced knowledge of global clinical trials and drug development.
• Experience in vendor oversight and external partnerships.
• Experience with comparator sourcing.
• Understanding of IRT and Excel modeling.
• Knowledge of global regulatory requirements (cGMP, ICH/GDP, GCP, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 13).
• Experience with deviation investigation and CAPA.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams.

Education

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or similar.
• 12+ years of progressive supply chain experience, preferably in biotech/pharma/CRO, with 5+ years in comparator sourcing.
• 5+ years of people leadership and development experience.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
