Responsibilities
- Set vision and strategy for cheminformatics capabilities and platforms to accelerate drug discovery decision-making
- Lead a multi-site team across data engineering, analytics, and scientific software development
- Develop talent and build an inclusive, high-performing team culture
- Partner with stakeholders across the drug discovery spectrum to enable impactful solutions
- Translate scientific challenges into scalable data architectures, workflows, and algorithms deployable across projects
- Drive next-generation workflows integrating modern technologies (ML incl. generative/predictive models, knowledge graphs, emerging AI)
- Ensure capabilities are deployed and adopted with project teams and modeling partners
- Co-develop robust, sustainable platforms with IT and balance new investments with effective use of existing solutions
- Collaborate with Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Quantitative Biology, and Modeling; align data science/informatics strategy
- Identify where cheminformatics enhances broader modeling and discovery efforts; maintain visibility across the discovery portfolio
Education
- BS, MS, or PhD in a related STEM field (cheminformatics/bioinformatics/chemistry/biology/CS/data science/AI-ML, etc.)
Required Experience & Skills
- PhD + 7+ years, MS + 9+ years, or BS + 13+ years applying computational/data science to drug discovery
- 2+ years managerial experience (team building, talent development, inclusive leadership)
- Modern computational workflows; cloud systems; MLOps/DataOps
- Strong knowledge of cheminformatics, data analytics, and data engineering in early drug discovery
- Predictive modeling/advanced analytics in a matrixed environment; cross-functional influence
- Partner effectively with IT to build scalable platforms
