Corporate Functions
The Position
- Provide legal counsel to a global healthcare company on relevant issues involving application of U.S. law, regulations, and industry standards.
Essential Functions
- In collaboration with other attorneys, serve as a legal advisor for assigned functions to shape and execute strategy, objectives, and initiatives.
- Work with attorneys and stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives, including promotional and other material review committees.
- Flexibly support different teams, brands, and functional areas as business needs evolve.
- Provide timely, practical, and compliant solutions for commercial legal issues while managing risks.
- Identify new laws, regulations, and industry trends; assist with development of policies and training.
- Advise on interactions with healthcare providers, patients, and payors to comply with fraud and abuse laws (e.g., U.S. Anti-Kickback Statute) and industry codes (e.g., PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Providers).
- Participate in product lifecycle planning.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts.
Qualifications
- J.D. required; NJ bar admission or ability to obtain a limited in-house counsel license required.
- 4+ years of legal experience preferred, including experience at the FDA and/or supporting the pharmaceutical sector and/or product liability litigation.
- Prior experience with pharmaceutical product liability defense or enforcement litigation preferred.
- Additional healthcare/pharmaceutical experience (including FDA, advertising and promotion, anti-kickback, antitrust, privacy) preferred but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and creativity/initiative.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate and communicate with internal client groups.
