Role: Provide legal and compliance support for AI systems within a life sciences environment, focusing on responsible AI adoption and governance. Responsibilities: advise on AI initiatives throughout their lifecycle, conduct legal risk assessments covering intellectual property, privacy, bias, safety, and third-party risks; support implementation of AI governance frameworks, including model inventory and lifecycle controls; interpret and translate global AI laws and standards (e.g., EU AI Act, OECD Principles, NIST AI RMF) into policies and training; review and negotiate AI-related contracts; collaborate with Privacy Law & Compliance on data and automated decision-making issues; and engage with regulators and industry groups. Requirements: JD and active bar membership in the U.S.; 5-7 years legal experience, with at least 2 years focused on AI legal and compliance work; strong knowledge of AI laws and frameworks; excellent drafting and stakeholder management skills; sound judgment in high-visibility, ambiguous issues. Preferred: certifications like CIPP or IAPP AIGP; experience in pharma, biotech, or healthcare industries; familiarity with privacy laws (GDPR, HIPAA, China PIPL); knowledge of machine learning and data science workflows; and experience with AI risk review and governance tools. High-Value: AI governance in regulated life sciences setting, legal counsel for AI lifecycle including R&D, manufacturing, and commercial use cases. Collaboration: partner with BI&T, Privacy, Data Governance, and business stakeholders. Work setup: location flexible; specific onsite or travel expectations not specified.
