Summary/Job Purpose
The Contracts Manager II drafts, negotiates, and manages contracts supporting research, development, and supply chain functions.
Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of contracts (e.g., NDAs, consulting/services agreements, materials transfer agreements, research agreements, clinical study agreements, vendor services agreements).
- Advise and troubleshoot existing agreements under supervision.
- Identify contract-related risks and communicate them to internal decision-makers.
- Partner with internal clients to address legal and business questions.
- Handle miscellaneous legal tasks as needed under supervision.
- Maintain and track contract status.
- Provide support to in-house attorneys as requested.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in related discipline and 7 years of related experience, or JD preferred, or equivalent education/experience.
- 2β3 years of in-house experience at a biotech, pharma, or high-tech company focused on contract drafting and negotiation.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong contract management understanding (tracking, negotiation, approvals, signatures).
- Ability to work independently across functional groups and all levels.
- Detail oriented; strong organizational skills.
- Handle multiple tasks; prioritize; meet deadlines; work under pressure.
- Flexible to learn new procedures and skill sets.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of drug discovery/development and pharmaceutical contracting risks.
- Experience/knowledge of paralegal support (IP/corporate matters).
- Strong verbal/written communication; strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
