Role Summary
The Consumer Marketing Director for Rheumatology leads development and execution of the consumer strategy for Rheum SpA indications (PsA, AS, nr-axSpA, JPsA). The role drives integrated marketing activities anchored in consumer insight, with accountability for impact on sales and the contribution of consumer investments to the IBT’s P&L. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams and external agencies to deliver compelling, multi-channel consumer experiences and ensure alignment with brand strategies.
Responsibilities
- Create a positive culture, set ownership and accountability, develop people, and act as an active voice in the IBT while embodying AbbVie ways of working.
- Understand business trends and the competitive environment; articulate consumer strategies integrated within the business context; own the strategic planning process and, with the IBT Leadership Team, develop the vision, strategy, and financials of the business plan.
- Lead the team in prioritizing and executing integrated marketing tactics anchored in consumer insight, aligned to brand strategies and measurable.
- Foster innovation and proactively share learnings with other teams (Therapeutic Franchise, Consumer Immunology); lead initiatives for synergies across IBT and Consumer Immunology (pan-Rheum integration, launch best practices, Adobe capabilities, SEO/SEM, etc.).
- Oversee consumer agency management across the Rheumatology Franchise; build strong partnerships with agencies to deliver breakthrough creative for key multi-channel campaigns (broadcast, digital, social, content marketing) as measured by copy testing and in-market performance.
- Partner with SKYRIZI Derm Consumer team to ensure SKY PsA-R interests are represented in consumer strategies and tactics.
- Provide direction, input, and feedback to the Media Team on media strategies and plans; mentor direct reports in media planning and strategy.
- Work with APEX, CI and other groups to monitor the competitive landscape to uncover and validate activating consumer insights that unlock strategic opportunities across the Rheum portfolio.
- Develop marketing and leadership capabilities across the Rheum Consumer Team and contribute to capabilities development across Consumer Immunology.
- Drive long-term evolution and sustainability of each asset’s positioning and translate positioning into compelling strategies, tactics and communications.
- Collaborate with APEX and the Media team to determine channel allocation for consumer campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Required: BA, BS degree or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: Master's degree in business.
- Required: 10+ years marketing experience, 5 of which must be healthcare; minimum 3 years in management.
- Required: Proficiency in leadership, technical marketing, business/financial acumen, strategic thinking and agility, teamwork, initiative, innovation, integrity, and communication.
