Role Summary

Lead and drive the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process for Vertex’s Cell and Gene Therapy portfolio, including complex modeling of assumptions, demand and capacity to meet short- and long-term requirements. Collaborate with the commercial team, external manufacturing, finance, materials, quality control and regulatory to align demand, capacity and financial impact, culminating in the monthly S&OP process. Build and lead the monthly S&OP meetings and implement a new planning tool to systematize planning across CDMOs, suppliers, testing sites, and finance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of a commercial capacity model across multiple CMOs.
  • Maintain, utilize, and improve a dynamic capacity model for long-range planning, situational planning, and analysis of unexpected events.
  • Perform detailed modeling (Excel), analyze and present data, and systematize as needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of supply chain systems.
  • Lead teams directly and cross-functionally.
  • Integrate the capacity model into manufacturing, commercial, and COGS strategies to enable scenario planning and scheduling.
  • Lead S&OP meetings to align demand, capacity and assumptions.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Anticipate industry trends with knowledge of manufacturing, development, and supply.

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management; Cell and Gene Therapy experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively and deliver on critical goals.
  • Robust knowledge across supply chain disciplines and ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with all levels of the company.
  • Good understanding of the cell and gene therapy and biotech industry and market.
  • High level understanding of GMP processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, execute, follow up and anticipate challenges; results-oriented with urgency to mitigate risk.
  • Data analysis skills and ability to communicate complex problems visually and verbally.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline.
  • Typically requires 8 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
