Role Summary
This role will lead and drive the Sales and Operations Planning (SOP) process for Casgevy, a commercially launched product within VertexβΓΓ΄s Cell and Gene Therapy portfolio. This is a critical role within the Vertex Supply Chain, including complex modeling to align demand and capacity for short- and long-term requirements. The Associate Director will collaborate with commercial, external manufacturing, finance, materials, quality control and regulatory teams to culminate in the monthly SOP process, establish key assumptions, and manage scenarios and KPI reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of a commercial capacity model across multiple CMOs.
- Maintain, utilize, and improve a dynamic capacity model for long-range and scenario planning, including analysis of unexpected events.
- Perform detailed modeling (Excel), analyze and present data, and systematize processes as needed.
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of supply chain systems.
- Lead teams directly and cross-functionally to align demand, capacity, and assumptions.
- Integrate the capacity model into manufacturing strategy, commercial strategy, and COGS modeling to assess financial impact.
- Lead SOP meetings to align demand, capacity, and assumptions.
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of the organization.
- Anticipate industry trends and maintain strong knowledge of manufacturing, development, and supply.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management; experience in Cell and Gene Therapy is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with a high degree of effectiveness.
- Strong track record of delivering on critical project goals and advancing initiatives.
- Robust knowledge across supply chain disciplines; ability to motivate and build team unity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the company.
- Good understanding of the cell and gene therapy and biotech industry and market.
- High-level understanding of GMP processes and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, execute, follow up, and anticipate challenges with a results-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in data analysis and systems for downloading and analyzing data; ability to communicate complex problems visually and verbally.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline.
- Typically requires 8 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
