Role Summary

Senior Manager, Data Enablement, Infrastructure and Reporting for Pain Therapeutic Area within the U.S. Market Access (USMA) department, contributing to the Data & Analytics (D&A) Center of Excellence (COE) team. Focus on data and analytics with subject matter expertise in value & access strategies, U.S. pricing and reimbursement dynamics, to generate market access insights that inform strategy, contracting, payer accounts, trade, and distribution activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of insights to strengthen Vertex’s leadership in Pain Therapy Area and contribute to market access portfolio strategies by analyzing market access trends to drive in-line brands and pipeline assets.
  • Execute analytical insights to inform US market access in-market growth activities within Pain, including evaluating analogues for strategy, pricing & contracting, payer/PBM landscape, and clinic/hospital economics.
  • Conduct Payer Access analytics to quantify and validate market access trends, competitor tactics, deal performance, and customer behaviors (e.g., Utilization Management, Coverage Trends, Policy Impacts, YOY trends, Claims analysis).
  • Evaluate Pain Patient Support Program impact on out-of-pocket costs, including commercial claims coverage, Medicaid Part D, voucher programs, External Savings programs, and other savings scenarios.
  • Analyze Retail stocking metrics using IntegriChain EDI 852/867 and IQVIA dispense data, combine with Claims data to understand inventory, stock levels, forecast stocking metrics, and visualize trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DTE, GIACO) to interpret trends and support data-driven storytelling.
  • Partner with Market Access teams to integrate insights into strategic discussions.
  • Oversee pain data quality initiatives, regular reporting and dashboards, monitor data feeds for anomalies, explain and remediate variances, and perform maintenance/upgrades.
  • Lead pain technology and infrastructure requests with DTE, including requirements gathering and user acceptance testing.
  • Collaborate with Payer Field teams to respond to data inquiries and provide account-level metrics.
  • Communicate key findings related to utilization management, tiering, formulary/medical policy changes, and their impact on market access.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD) preferred.
  • 3+ years in biotech/pharmaceutical industry or biopharma consulting with a focus on Managed Markets, Market Access, or healthcare analytics.
  • 3+ years developing analytics that inform value, access, reimbursement, or contracting strategies.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and evolving U.S. Market Access strategies, including payer account management and reimbursement models.
  • Experience with syndicated Market Access databases (IQVIA Xponent, MMIT) and distribution/shipment data (852, 867, Integrichain).
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, PowerBI; Python and Snowflake a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to generate insights and support decision-making.
  • Analytical thinker who can identify trends and synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting to cross-functional teams and mid-level leadership.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to support financial forecasting, analytics, and commercial launch planning through data-driven insights.
