Role Summary
The Clinical Lab Technologist processes medically relevant biological samples using extraction and/or high-throughput next-generation DNA sequencing assays within a fast-paced, high-production laboratory. The role requires high attention to detail and clinical mindset to produce test results for patients and medical professionals. The position primarily supports the PCR team, with potential cross-training in other lab areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform and provide general support for DNA extractions, PCR amplification, or high-throughput sequencing assays on DNA libraries following standard laboratory processes.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as liquid handling robotics and DNA sequencers.
- Complete tasks assigned (e.g., routine clinical or research sample processing, validations, reagent QC runs, or special projects) accurately per methodologies.
- Provide guidance to less-experienced staff.
- Train and/or assess competency for Clinical Laboratory Technician/Technologist team members on high-complexity molecular methods (Level II).
- Suggest changes to procedures to improve efficiency and results; work with independence at higher levels.
Qualifications
- Molecular biology skills (DNA Extraction, Purification, PCR, qPCR, next-generation sequencing) and related technical knowledge.
- Experience handling human specimens and biohazardous material.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Level I: Must meet ONE of the following: Bachelor's or higher in medical technology or laboratory science, or in chemical/biological sciences with 6 months of high-complexity molecular experience/training in a clinical lab (CLIA Certificate of Compliance/Accreditation).
- Level II: Must meet ALL of the following: Bachelor's or higher in medical technology/laboratory science/chemical/biological science; minimum 1 year of high-complexity clinical laboratory experience; minimum 3 years of pertinent molecular laboratory experience; Master’s or higher preferred (2 years).
- Level III: Must meet ALL of the following: Bachelor’s or higher in medical technology/laboratory science/chemical/biological science; minimum 3 years of high-complexity clinical laboratory experience; Master’s or higher preferred; minimum 5 years of molecular laboratory experience; competency in automation and best practices.
- Preferred: ASCP(MB) certification; experience in a high-throughput clinical environment; familiarity with LIMS and lab terminology; strong independent work capability and teamwork; experience with Adaptive’s Sample Prep or PCR/Sequencing technologies.

Additional Requirements
- Line-level and/ or cross-trained shifts may include late evenings and weekends; ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform data entry.
