Clinical Director (Principal Scientist)
Role Responsibilities:
- Plan clinical trials (designing, operational plans) based on clinical development strategy
- Provide medical oversight and ensure overall conduct of ongoing or new clinical trials for investigational/marketed drugs
- Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety/efficacy decisions, NDA/related submissions, clinical study reports, and publications
- Participate in internal and joint internal/external research teams for development of new and marketed compounds
- Support business development assessments of external opportunities
Additional Responsibilities:
- Engage with other functional areas to support study execution
- Work with cross-functional experts (commercialization, regulatory affairs, statistics, manufacturing) to manage clinical development projects
- Inform colleagues on progress of company and competitor drug studies
- Provide expert internal/external scientific opinion within scope
Scientific Leadership:
- Stay current on scientific developments and methodologies
- Identify strong investigators; establish communications with prominent clinical investigators
- Attend relevant scientific meetings
- Author development documents, presentations, budgets, and position papers
- Facilitate global collaborations; travel ~20% to manage future/ongoing projects
Education:
- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Industry experience or senior faculty in academia
- 3+ years clinical medicine experience
- 1+ year industry drug development experience or biomedical research in academia
- Record of scientific scholarship/achievement; strong clinical medicine and biomedical research background
- Strong interpersonal; team environment capability
- Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills
Preferred:
- Board Certified or Eligible in Oncology (or related)
- Prior clinical research experience and publications
