Role Summary

Center Medical Specialist at Grifols Plasma Donation Centers. The role involves performing physical examinations and medical history reviews to determine donor suitability, educating donors on general health, and counseling regarding test results. You will manage donor injuries and adverse events, provide donor health education, assist in employee training, and administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program while maintaining donor and staff confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Qualifications

  • Required: Certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), Paramedic, or EMT. Current CPR certification required.

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day
  • Bending and twisting of neck 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movement with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Ability to grasp and manipulate objects with the fingers
  • Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on one's heels; occasionally walks, bends and twists at waist
  • Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable to 20/30 and 20/100 in the respective eyes
  • Able to communicate information clearly and listen effectively; works independently and with guidance
  • Performs a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms; exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers; PPE required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear)
