Role Summary
Center Medical Specialist in a Grifols plasma donation center. Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina. You will perform donor physical examinations and medical history reviews to determine donor suitability, educate donors on general health and potential test results, and maintain donor and staff confidentiality. You will also assist in employee training and administer the Hepatitis vaccine program for employees.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the Hepatitis vaccine program for employees
Qualifications
- Required: Current licensure/certification in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT; CPR certification required.

Additional Requirements
- Work is performed both standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day
- Requires bending and twisting of neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movements with the ability to perform fine motor tasks
- Ability to grasp and manipulate objects with precision
- Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on heels occasionally; may walk, bend and twist at the waist
- Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height; hearing acuity essential
- Color perception and near/far vision within the required ranges; vision may be corrected
- Strong communication skills; ability to listen and convey information effectively
- Ability to work independently or under guidance of oral or written instructions
- Work environment includes plasma center; potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms; exposure to electrical equipment; exposure to extreme cold in plasma freezers; PPE required (gloves, gowns, protective eyewear, etc.)
