Role Summary
CD&A - Manager, Data Science role within Amgen's Marketing Investment Optimization team. You will drive data-informed decision-making by developing econometric models, measuring the impact of promotions via causal inference, and conducting analyses to solve key business challenges. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and collaborates across functional teams. This is a flexible commuter role based in Thousand Oaks, CA or Deerfield, IL, with on-site work 2–3 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain Marketing Mix models and share insights with business stakeholders
- Conduct modeling processes from end-to-end including data ingestion, transformation, model development, calibration, cross-validation, and model optimization
- Manage, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects/tasks with conflicting deadlines in consultation with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead experimental design and measurement to evaluate the effect of promotional intervention on business performance
- Conduct independent analyses on internal analytics databases and data clean rooms to generate actionable insights
- Collaborate with both internal and external teams to conduct analysis, segmentation, and enhancement of audience data
- Develop data visualization and presentations to communicate marketing performance and business impact to brand teams
- Operate with agility and independence in a highly dynamic environment, proactively identifying gaps and opportunities
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree
- Required: Master’s degree and 2 years of consulting, customer data & analytics experience
- Required: Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of consulting, customer data & analytics experience
- Required: Associate’s degree and 8 years of consulting, customer data & analytics experience
- Required: High school diploma / GED and 10 years of consulting, customer data & analytics experience
- Preferred: Experience in the commercial pharmaceuticals business
- Preferred: Extensive experience with SQL, Python, R, and similar programming languages
- Preferred: Experience with marketing mix models, experimentation, optimization, lift analysis, and media data
- Preferred: Strong working knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques
- Preferred: Familiarity with Healthcare Data, Real World Data, Clinical Coding Systems, Claims data, EMR. and understanding of data analysis workflows
- Preferred: Ability to execute with limited guidance and provide business insights to stakeholders
- Preferred: Proven track record of working collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
- Preferred: Comfort navigating ambiguous requirements and working toward clarity and alignment
