Role Summary

The Global Insights Senior Manager is responsible for facilitating decision enablement across the Commercial organization for inflammation and Rare Disease pipeline by leading insight generation via primary market research, strategic secondary analytics and synthesis of internal knowledge. The role requires a consulting-type perspective with the ability to solve ambiguous problems, integrating multiple sources to support global product strategy, brand building, and milestones for internal governance.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize information from a variety of sources (e.g., market research, competitive intelligence, secondary data, advisory boards) to develop strategic insights that address business needs
  • Integrate insights and knowledge to develop business cases and facilitate workshops to support clinical development plans, lifecycle management and other strategic decisions - supporting critical go/no-go decisions and senior leadership presentations
  • Plan, design and conduct primary market research for multiple assets in various stages of product lifecycle to enable strategic decision making
  • Lead ad hoc strategic secondary analytics to inform strategic decisions
  • Clearly communicate insights and recommendations to variety of audiences, including senior leadership (e.g., Therapeutic Area Heads, Disease Area Strategy Leads), and become a 'devil's advocate' when needed
  • Partner with commercial leadership and cross-functional partners to define and prioritize objectives, budget and work plans to meet evolving business needs
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with best-in-class vendors and look for opportunities to innovate and advance capabilities
  • Support advancement of AI capabilities for global insights generation
  • Ensure that both routine and ad-hoc projects are in compliance with all Amgen SOPs and meet service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctorate degree and 2 years of commercial insights or consulting experience
  • Required: Master’s degree and 4 years of commercial insights or consulting experience
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of commercial insights or consulting experience
  • Required: Associate’s degree and 10 years of commercial insights or consulting experience
  • Required: High school diploma / GED and 12 years of commercial insights or consulting experience
  • Preferred: Demonstrated exceptional business acumen, strategic / critical thinking skills, and ability to influence key decisions
  • Preferred: Ability to extract, analyze, treat, and consolidate data from different sources in clear and concise formats with rigor and high level of accuracy
  • Preferred: Strong knowledge of drug development the pharmaceutical industry
  • Preferred: Experience leading primary market research
  • Preferred: Ability to think strategically to support key business decisions
  • Preferred: Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment across different functional groups
  • Preferred: Excellent presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts and controversial findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management
  • Preferred: Skilled in prioritizing multiple responsibilities, priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously
  • Preferred: Experience with commonly used biopharmaceutical industry datasets and databases

Additional Requirements

  • Flexible commuter role to Thousand Oaks, CA office. On-site a minimum of 2 days a week.
