Summary Of Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patientsโ needs and develop action plans to initiate/continue treatment with Alnylam products; coordinate exchange of patient information with internal/external stakeholders.
- Understand reimbursement: billing/coding nuances, insurance plans, payer trends, financial/patient assistance programs, and related resources.
- Assist with insurance approval and proactively maintain coverage with patients/caregivers, providers, insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, and internal colleagues.
- Use regional resources to support patient care; identify complex patient-specific issues and execute action plans.
- Maintain expertise via continuing medical education and relevant conferences.
- Educate patients, caregivers, families, and healthcare providers on insurance options/limitations, prior authorization and policy requirements, patient services, and disease/product info.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal/external partners (e.g., medical, sales, field reimbursement, patient advocacy, case managers, specialty pharmacies, home health).
- Attend patient meetings and represent Alnylam at industry conferences as needed.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and industry policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree required (Health Care/Social Work/Nursing or related preferred).
- 3+ years case management experience in healthcare or pharma/biotech; ultra-rare disease experience preferred.
- Experience with home care management, utilization review, social services, insurance reimbursement, patient assistance, and/or billing/coding.
- Knowledge of benefit verification and prior authorization for infused/injectable products; private payer/Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement structure required.
- CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce) and strong written/verbal communication; listening, critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation/mediation.
- Ability to handle sensitive/difficult conversations; work independently; manage priorities; influence cross-functionally.
- Travel 5% as needed.
