Role Summary
Cardiometabolic Care Specialist I in Brownsville, Texas. Responsible for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to promote Novo Nordisk’s portfolio to healthcare professionals and office staff, building relationships, and driving clinical engagement within the territory.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competencies on a consistent basis with territory level impact
- Demonstrates understanding of the local payer market including Medicare, Commercial and Medicaid benefit designs, payer coverage, prescription coverage requirements, step therapy, coverage gaps, copays, and deductibles and the impact on customer decisions
- Demonstrates understanding of territory customer groups and affiliations (e.g., IPAs, Medical Groups, Health Systems, Local Clinics) and tailors approach to opportunities
- Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status, as applicable
- Assesses the impact of managed care in the territory and modifies sales and promotion strategies accordingly
- Develops and utilizes relationships with specialists, hospital decision-makers, and other influencers in the purchasing/prescribing/formulary process
- Researches, understands and tailors account plans based on stakeholders and accounts’ business practices
- Uses understanding of market conditions, trends, priorities, and patient needs to develop and execute territory business plans
- Gains access and builds relationships with prescribers, support staff, pharmacies, and clinic administrators to drive business impact through collaboration on clinical management of patients
- Demonstrates professionalism and a customer-focused approach with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborates across functions (e.g., Market Access, Specialty Sales) to share knowledge and opportunities
- Implements Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model with external customers and at company-sponsored meetings

- Uses analytical tools to evaluate territory opportunities and develops plans to engage customers and gain commitment to use products when appropriate, leveraging payer opportunities and brand strategies
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define roles and responsibilities
- Manages samples and company property in accordance with policies; manages discretionary budget to support territory sales goals
- Maintains thorough understanding of disease states and treatment options, including Novo Nordisk products and competitor options
- Participates in product and disease knowledge sharing during meetings, training, and events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree, and/or PharmD required
- Minimum one year of experience in Pharmaceutical/Healthcare, Sales, Consulting, Customer Service or Military (preferred)
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel); experience with sales data/call reporting software is ideal
- Self-starter with ability to evaluate options and decide with minimal supervision
- Aptitude for leadership and decision-making
- Solid understanding of current therapy areas (diabetes and obesity) and Novo Nordisk’s products, with ability to learn and communicate technical and scientific information
Education
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree, and/or PharmD required

- Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be in good standing with respect to motor vehicle records.
