Role Summary

Cardiometabolic Account Specialist (CAS) โ€“ Hawaii. The CAS is a field-based role responsible for the launch of Ionisโ€™s first wholly owned commercial product within their territory, with a deep understanding of the healthcare market and the Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) community, including key customers and accounts treating cardiovascular and lipid-related diseases. The role involves driving performance and collaborating with cross-functional partners and external customers to support Ionis goals and help patients in need.

Responsibilities

  • The CAS will understand the objectives and needs of each customer and achieve improved patient outcomes by building, maintaining, and leveraging networks in the local healthcare system to develop and execute effective business plans to meet customer and Ionis goals.
  • Serve as a cross-functional teammate, building trust and collaborating with a diverse team while complying with the Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, continuing efforts for the FCS community.

Customer Engagement and Experience

  • Educate HCPs and office staff to raise FCS disease state awareness, educate on diagnostic pathways, and instill urgency to treat FCS.
  • Create positive prescribing experience through value-added resourcing and HCP/patient support materials and programs.
  • Participate in conferences, congresses, and other scientific meetings to educate HCPs on FCS disease state and treatment.

Market Knowledge

  • Gather insights to profile accounts and provide feedback to field leadership and marketing to inform product sales & marketing strategy.
  • Understand local referral networks and referral patterns for FCS patients.
  • Identify, validate, and document potential HCPs treating FCS patients to inform commercial strategy.

Account Planning

  • Execute brand strategic plans by developing and executing customer-focused territory strategic account plans to maximize opportunities and customer satisfaction.
  • Build insight-driven tactics by understanding brand requirements and anticipating needs of key customers including hospital and office-based Endocrinologists, Cardiologists, and other sub-specialties that treat FCS patients.
  • Adjust strategies to meet business goals in the region through territory strategic insight.
  • Develop strategic account plans with field and brand leadership to engage accounts based on customer needs and brand objectives.

Training

  • Participate in field meetings and training programs to understand brand messaging, FCS disease state, and engagement tactics.
  • Certify on approved label, compliance training, and all applicable customer engagement policies.
  • Adhere to company mission, vision, policies, and procedures, including the Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.

Teamwork

  • Partner with cross-functional teammates to address customer needs while ensuring compliant customer and patient experiences.
  • Share learnings with other field team members and leadership.
  • Leverage platforms and technology to engage customers compliantly across channels and enhance their experience.
  • Partner on accounts with patients seen by multiple specialties in multiple geographies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Pharma sales across relevant competencies (New Product launches, account-based selling, HCP and IDN engagement, cross-functional field team coordination, independently managing a sales territory, and knowledge of FCS).
  • Background in cardiology, endocrinology, and other sub-specialties that treat FCS patients
  • Injectable experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) community
  • Established relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and major accounts
  • Ability to analyze market data and develop territory strategies
  • Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to addressing patient needs
