Role Summary

Center Medical Specialist for Grifols plasma donation centers. Works with licensed clinicians (EMT Basic/Advanced, Paramedic, LVN/LPN, RN) to screen donors, educate on general health, and ensure donor and staff safety and confidentiality. Responsible for donor health assessments, training support, and administering the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program. Location: Corpus Christi, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate & manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program

Qualifications

  • Required: Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT; HS diploma or GED; Current CPR certification required.
  • Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Education

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Current CPR certification

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day
  • Bending and twisting of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand movements with the ability to perform rapid finger, hand, and wrist actions
  • Ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasions; may walk, bend and twist at the waist
  • Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height; hearing acuity essential
  • Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision with corrective lenses as needed
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and listen effectively
  • Works independently and with guidance of oral or written instructions
  • Works in a plasma center with potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers; PPE required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear)
