Role Summary
Center Medical Specialist for Grifols plasma donation centers. Works with licensed clinicians (EMT Basic/Advanced, Paramedic, LVN/LPN, RN) to screen donors, educate on general health, and ensure donor and staff safety and confidentiality. Responsible for donor health assessments, training support, and administering the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program. Location: Corpus Christi, TX.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical examination and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health and provide counseling regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate & manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Perform evaluations of any history of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Qualifications
- Required: Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT; HS diploma or GED; Current CPR certification required.
- Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Education
- HS diploma or GED

Additional Requirements
- Work is performed standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day
- Bending and twisting of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movements with the ability to perform rapid finger, hand, and wrist actions
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasions; may walk, bend and twist at the waist
- Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height; hearing acuity essential
- Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision with corrective lenses as needed
- Ability to communicate information clearly and listen effectively
- Works independently and with guidance of oral or written instructions
- Works in a plasma center with potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms
- Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while performing functions in plasma freezers; PPE required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear)
