Role Summary

Automation Technician responsible for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of automation systems for manufacturing equipment. Systems include photosensors, camera systems, robotics, and other instrumentation. Develop machine operation and maintenance procedures, minimize downtime, train new operators, and maintain good housekeeping practices.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and replace automation systems for manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot automation components, including sensors, servo motors, robotics, camera systems, and other instrumentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and adjustments of equipment.
  • Work with equipment manufacturersβ€šΓ„Γ΄ service technicians on repairs, preventative maintenance, and appropriate spare parts stocking.
  • Support routine and non-routine maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Maintain spare parts for automated systems.
  • Assist with maintenance of the building and facility equipment as necessary.
  • Assist Mfg Engineering in the design or modification of equipment.
  • Train new or existing personnel in set-up, operation and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Assist in the creation of new equipment-related procedures and the modification/streamlining of existing procedures using MS Word or similar program.
  • Maintain good housekeeping requirements.
  • Assist in the development and execution of validation protocols.
  • Operate production equipment as needed.
  • Aid management in preparing maintenance budgets and work to minimize equipment-operating cost.
  • Initiate Engineering Change Order and applicable documents as required.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook, SOPs and SWIs and follows safety guidelines.
  • Manages time well and may work extended hours as needed.
  • Willingness to accept changes in work from day-to-day within reasonable boundaries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma (or equivalent).
  • Associates degree or completion of an automation/robotics certification program preferred.
  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting of PLCs and automation systems.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams.
  • Experience with robotic programming and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of GMP and ISO regulations are preferred.
  • Hands-on ability with machine tools such as milling machines and lathes is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must be capable of working effectively in a team environment with co-workers and management.
  • The position may require occasional extended hours and weekend coverage.
